When Lory Macrate was in the hospital last year receiving CAR-T therapy for multiple myeloma, a nurse would wake her up every morning with a pill cup full of colorful medications.
“This painting symbolizes the life-saving oral cancer medications that have helped myself and others survive cancer for much longer than we might have dreamed possible. Of all the medications I’ve taken to destroy the myeloma gremlins in my blood, painting is my personal wonder drug,” explained Lory.
Lory Macrate is a 13-year survivor of multiple myeloma but identifies more as an artist and a native of Southern California living in the Atlanta, GA, area with her husband, Ed, and cat, Soxy. Every day she sees something that triggers inspiration for a new painting, and every new painting is an adventure that feeds her soul with creative energy.
