In 2014 I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. A couple of months later, the place I worked at for 29 years announced it was closing. Out of work at age 62, and feeling the effects of chemo, did not make for good job prospects. One day while visiting my friend, I noticed a photo of her vacationing in Greece. It was the kind of picture made to be a painting, so I spent that summer immersed in my large (4’ × 4’) project, which is this acrylic painting. That, and my dogs by my side, were the medicine I needed. I always try to think one painting ahead now, having turned a hobby into a full-time health benefit.
