These photographs are self-portraits. I am a photographer and educator who was struck by breast cancer. Being depressed about all-things cancer, chemo, and losing my signature red hair, friends and family members began to send me hats. I decided to try a few on, and realized the hats had a personality. For the first time since my diagnosis, I laughed, then marched to my studio and began shooting these images.
Cancer would not define me. Humor and artistry would. Make good art.
